Magis Society
The Magis Society is a special circle of Prep family and friends who have included the School in their estate planning. This group, aptly named for a central Ignatian principle reflects a desire to do “more” or “greater” things on behalf of others. And these individuals want that pursuit of the magis to continue long after they themselves have finished their own quest.
Members of the Magis Society recognize that making a bequest to the Prep continues the distinctive relationship they have established with our community in a way that supports our Ignatian tradition of excellence beyond their lifetimes. They know that making a bequest guarantees that the Prep community will continue to experience their positive influence for generations to come. They want their memory to be connected in a special way to our tradition and legacy.
The following types of commitments, confirmed in writing and subject to certain restrictions, qualify you for membership in Magis Society:
- a bequest provision in your Will or revocable trust;
- a life-income gift that names the Prep as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust, a charitable gift annuity, or a pooled income fund gift;
- a charitable lead trust that provides income to the Prep for a donor’s lifetime or a term of years;
- a gift or assignment of qualified retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b);
- a gift of life insurance;
- certain other planned gifts.
If you have already included the Prep in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know. Your willingness to be listed as a member of Magis Society encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis in any case. It supports the Prep’s planning for the future. Of course, if you have not yet included the Prep in your plans and you would like to explore the best options for you and your family, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be glad to assist you on a confidential basis and without any obligation.
In an effort to preserve your legacy for the purpose it is intended, we have chosen a few simple ways to recognize your commitment. Each new member will receive a certificate of appreciation and letter of thanks from the President and CEO of the Prep, along with a handsome recognition gift that we hope you will treasure for years to come.
In addition to these small expressions of gratitude, we hope you will allow us to recognize you as a member of the Magis Society in our annual donor recognition publication. Your inclusion in this publication encourages others to join in this important effort. Lastly, as a member of Magis Society, you will receive timely information, tips, and ongoing professional gift planning services from the Office of Planned Giving.
